Our history
Since our beginning in 1892, we have driven the country's growth and built a better future through the creation of a culture of sustainability and innovation in all the businesses of which we are part.
At the end of the 19th century, Mariano and Eugenio Penagos Villalaín arrived in Latin America from Spain, and around 1892 they settled in Colombia, starting from that moment a series of businesses that allowed them to lead an entire trajectory of transformations, initially in the department of Santander.
1912
Penagos brought electricity
In 1912 Penagos brought electricity to the region and later in 1920 created the public lighting network in some municipalities surrounding the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga.
1948
Participate in the creation ing. mechanics
In 1948, one of the portfolio companies, Penagos Hermanos y Compañía, participated in the creation of the mechanical engineering school at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS), and later, in 1952, they created a mechanized and high-tech company called Siderúrgica. Philadelphia.

Participate in the founding of ANDI
In 1957, industrialists linked to metalworking and iron production gathered to create FEDEMETAL, which later became a Sectoral Chamber of ANDI and later became a Sectional Chamber. Penagos Hermanos was one of those 12 pioneering companies and today it is the only company that continues in force compared to that first conglomerate of founding companies.
